A marine casualty has occurred in the vicinity of 81-Mile Point.
At 0508 this morning, VTS closed the river from MM 177 to MM 178.  At 0742, VTS reopened the river to one-way traffic at safest slow speed for certain vessels.
The river is currently opened to one-way traffic at safest slow speed for the following vessels:
  • Towing vessels with a tow size not greater than 1000 feet
  • Ships not greater than 656 feet (200 meters) in length and 38 foot draft.

VTS LMR is implementing a Safety Measure at MM 177.8 AHP on RDB at eighty one mile point. All vessels are restricted to one-way traffic and a slowest safe speed. All towing vessels are limited to a tow size not greater than 1000 feet including the towing vessel and not greater than 175 feet wide, and all ships are limited to not greater than 656 LOA and a 38 foot draft.
