Heavy rains and thunderstorms over the past days have resulted in an increase in the watersheds associated with the San Jacinto River leading to the Houston Ship Channel. Further heavy rains and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the area today which may result in Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) implementing steps of the High Water Action Plan.
Based on current water levels and predications, VTS anticipates implementation of the:
WATCH phase between 1700-1900hrs today.
- Watch phase is when levels are at 6ft.
ACTION phase between 0500-0700hrs on Thursday Morning.
- Action phase is when levels are at 8ft and/or currents at 2mph.
All Mariners are advised to prepare their fleets and take precautions as necessary.
