Vessel Traffic Service Houston Galveston TX has extended the Vessel Traffic Service Area to the I-10 bridge on the San Jacinto River.

For 500 feet above to 500 feet below, the I-10 bridge over the San Jacinto River, Vessel Traffic Service Houston Galveston TX directs tow movements are limited to single barge with an adequate assist boat solely dedicated to that function.  Tow movements with a loaded barge will only be permitted during daylight hours.  Waivers may be considered by the VTS on a case basis.

VTS directs no meeting or overtaking between the entrance to the San Jacinto River to Channel Shipyard.  VTS will meter traffic as required.  Vessels are reminded to check in above the I-10 bridge.
