At 2300 (local) 16 May 2024,

The Houston Ship Channel between Houston Ship Channel between Light 146 and Light 160 remains closed for all vessel traffic pending investigation of a report of pollution, diesel fuel oil, entering the channel in vicinity of Greens Bayou.

All other areas of the Houston Ship Channel, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and connecting waterways are re-opened to vessel traffic.

Following passage of heavy weather, mariners are advised to keep a sharp look out and transit at safe speed to observe any debris, hazards to navigation, or discrepant Aids to Navigation on the waterways. Reports of hazards should be made to Vessel Traffic Service “Houston Traffic” on the appropriate VHF channels, 05A, 11, 12, or 21A.
