At 1000 (local) 04 May 2024, The San Jacinto River is in the Major Flood stage with Sheldon flood gage reading above 19 feet. A 5 MPH current has been measured below the I-10 Bridge.
At 1030 (local) 04MAY 2024 VTS Directs
-The Houston Ship Channel is closed for all vessel traffic from Lights 126 to 129.
-The Old River is closed to all vessel traffic.
-The San Jacinto River is closed to all vessel traffic.
-VTS Area has been extended from the mouth of the San Jacinto River to 1,000 yards above the I-10 bridge to include the Old River.
-No tows with barge transits in the San Jacinto River above I-10, upriver to Lake Houston.
