Update from the USCG:

  • The 200′ sand dredge W.B WOOD (661326) sank at 0050 at MM 85.
  • All personnel are accounted for.
  • The LMR is currently closed from MM 81 – 86.
  • Pollution potential exists; boom is deployed and surveyor / contractors on scene.
  • Salvage is being discussed/coordinated.
  • Once the USCG know more they will start to evaluate opening the river in that stretch to one way traffic.
