LaMA participated in USACE Navigation Restoration Team, National Weather Service, and USCG Port Coordination Team calls today. Following is a consolidated summary:

There has been only minimal change to the storm’s forecast

The track shifted slightly further north and winds strengthened a bit.

Still expected to turn westward by this evening or tonight and to move westward across or near the SE Louisiana coast tomorrow.

Rapid intensification is not likely.

Primary impacts are expected to be strong rain bands and Tropical Storm force wind gusts.

Port Condition is Whiskey remains in effect at this time. The COTP anticipates setting a modified Port Condition X-Ray later today for the LMR below MM 80 AHP. The purpose will be to ensure the port community is aware of the arrival time of tropical storm force winds in the area, but additional restrictions or river closures are not anticipated at this time. LaMA will forward the MSIB when received.

The MM 73 MOA will not be implemented for TS Bertha.

The Carrollton Gage is expected to exceed 8’. Anticipate release of an MSIB per the Waterways Action Plan.

The Lake Borgne Surge Barrier is expected to close at 1700 today.

USACE has implemented one-way traffic in the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) Lock as of 1500 yesterday afternoon in order to facilitate vessels departing RNA East.

USCG is coordinating with city officials to suspend bridge curfews at St. Claude and Florida Avenue to support vessels departing IHNC.

Bar Pilots intend to continue operations unless weather deteriorates significantly.

Ports are monitoring the storm and following their respective hurricane plans, and do not anticipate ceasing operations.

Post-storm assessments will take place once the storm has passed.

No significant interruptions to Coast Guard capabilities are expected, although a brief pause may occur during peak storm conditions.
