The U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mat Sinking Unit (MSU) work at the Vacherie location (Mile 149.4 Above Head of Passes) on the right descending resumed this morning and is scheduled to be completed this Friday, April 12, 2024 (Delays remain possible).

The recommended transit restrictions during working hours (0600 hours to 1900 hours) for the Vacherie revetment are detailed below.

There will be no southbound deep-draft traffic from Mile 150 AHP to Mile 148 AHP during working hours. Northbound traffic is limited to one-way transits from Mile 150 AHP to Mile 148 AHP for all vessels (with no southbound traffic during working hours this translates into no overtaking in this reach). All traffic must transit on a slow bell (24-hours). The MSU will fold in at night after 1900 hours the channel will be open to one-way traffic in both directions at the slowest safe speed.
