On or about October 10, 2025 the Captain of the Port will rescind the Vessel Traffic Service Safety Measures, outlined in MSIB Volume XXV, Issue 071 that established one-way traffic at MM 63.7 Above Head of Passes. A pause in construction is necessary to monitor the saltwater wedge before a determination can be made requiring further raising of the sill height. The current sill height sits approximately 55’ below the waterline.

The one-way traffic restrictions in this location are removed, however, the designated representative contact pilots remain on-site 24/7 to assist with navigation, if necessary, although the requirement to check-in with the contact pilot is lifted. Contact information is below:

Bruno L. Touchard (Day Shift) 985-215-9798

Damon R. Williams (Night Shift) 504-756-9821

Until further notice, Alliance Anchorage is closed to all vessels below MM 64.6 Above Head of Passes, while WMI equipment is on site and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) continues monitoring the status of the Saltwater Sill.

All are reminded that future construction on the sill may be needed requiring additional safety measures and/or draft restrictions. The U.S. Coast Guard will coordinate closely with the USACE to provide updates as soon as that information becomes available.

See the attached MSIB for documentation.
