Texas City Channel remains closed from Texas City Light 7 to Texas City Light 19 following an allision between a ship and dredge pipeline.
A 55 ft by 30-inch spud remains unaccounted for in the closure area. Contract and USACE assets are mobilizing for survey and salvage operations.
Once the spud is located, the Captain of the Port is amenable to restart traffic if the spud is not impeding the main channel. VTS Houston-Galveston will work with salvage team to determine if safety factors exist such that VTS can facilitate traffic during the salvage. Updates as we receive significant information.
